Swiss dreams are made of cheese, who am I to disagree? If you’re a cheese fan like me, who tends1 to melt at the sight or the smell of ‘grate’ cheese, you’ll crumble2 at this list of the three best places to find cheese on the Gold Coast.

Don’t be fooled3 by the cosiness4 of the low-lit cheese section, soon you’ll realise that the varieties of international products are endless.

Indeed, the connoisseur5 of cheese in my life and I, have never returned home empty-handed6, we’ve always found a little something savoury7 to take with us. Some of the French cheeses8 eaten here in Australia are brie, camembert, comté and raclette. As it happens, you’ll find all of them at this market. I count on The Standard Market Company to find my favourite cheese, the comté. For those who love an antipasto9 board when entertaining, or those like me, who indulge10 over the weekend, a little trip to this market in Southport will surely sprinkle your fancy11.

Harris Farm is another ‘feta-stic’ cheese emporium that will stir12 your excitement.

Past the fruits and veggies, and self-serve honey, your nose will be tantalised by13 the fragrant14 air to tell you that a collection of cheeses is just around the corner. Your eyes will sparkle15 at the sight of dairy delight choices that adorn16 the wall. At Harris Farm, there’s a wide array17 of cheeses from France, Greece, Italy and even other parts of the world. I’ve enjoyed seeing the assortment of parmesan cheese, I’ll definitely be trying each one of them. It’s the place to go when organising a picnic.

I was in awe18 when I saw an almost 360-degree shelf of cheese in the middle! You’ll love IGA Jones & Co for its international and niche19 items.

I’ve come across great cheeses from Europe like Gouda, provolone and Jarlsberg. I’ve also seen goat cheese which is definitely a crowd favourite. One delightful surprise is the range of colourful cheeses, such as vibrant green or bright pink, which seem to be made with ingredients like spinach or beetroot. I am waiting for the right occasion to sample20 these, hopefully on a table-sized cheese platter with many types of fromages!
